Paul Depauw gets first patent granted
Hoogstraten – On December 15th, 2015, the Netherlands Patent Office granted the invention “method and system for positioning a patient” to Dr Paul Depauw.
Dr. Paul Depauw, inspirer and inventor of Ergotrics’ inventions, walked around for many years with a blue folder containing the drawings of the “easylift.” His idea was to use compressed air and inflatables to tilt and lift patients. Based on his thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology and physics, he developed the perfect solution for neurosurgery.
Many recognized the problem, many complimented the invention, but it was Inspine with Michiel Schwatz who released 8000€ to work out the product concept.
The renowned patent agency EP&C then started and thanks to the work of Nyske Blokhuis, the patent application was filed in March 2014. A year and a half later, on 15 December 2015, the positive answer came back: the invention is new, inventive, industrially applicable and lawful. The patent “method and system for positioning a patient” has been granted!
